Volunteer - Shelter Assistant

Purpose:
To support the daily operations of the emergency housing shelter by assisting staff and engaging respectfully with residents to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet residents and visitors in a warm, professional manner
• Assist with check-in and distribution of linens, hygiene kits, or personal items
• Help maintain cleanliness and organization in common areas (e.g., lounge, kitchen, restrooms)
• Provide general support during mealtimes, recreational activities, or group events
• Restock supplies and report low inventory to shelter staff
• Observe and report any safety or behavioral concerns to on-duty staff
• Offer encouragement and a listening ear, while maintaining clear boundaries
