About

Since 1964, the Association of Village Council Presidents (AVCP) has been a nonprofit tribal consortium, dedicated to supporting the interests and needs of the Alaska Native peoples of the Yukon-Kuskokwim-Delta Region (YKDelta). AVCP provides community development, education, social services, culturally relevant programs and advocacy for the people and 56 tribes of Western Alaska. The organization promotes self-determination, protection, and enhancement of the cultural and traditional values of its members. AVCP works tirelessly to improve the quality of life for the residents of the YK Delta by working collaboratively with the 48 communities it serves. The organization's efforts include housing initiatives through the AVCP Regional Housing Authority, public safety measures, and higher education scholarships to empower tribal members. By fostering self-governance and advocating for local needs, AVCP plays an integral role in preserving the unique cultural heritage and addressing the socio-economic challenges faced by the communities in the region.
