Summary
Designs, builds and maintains server-side systems and RESTful APIs for a Kuala Lumpur software company, including database optimisation and security. Requires 2+ years' backend experience with at least one of Java, Python, Node.js, PHP, C# or Go; cloud, Docker/Kubernetes and message-queue experience preferred.
Salary: RM 5,000 – RM 7,500 per month
About the role
We are seeking a talented Backend Developer to join SwiftStack Solution Sdn. Bhd. in Kuala Lumpur on a full-time basis. This role is pivotal to our technology infrastructure, as you will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining the robust server-side systems that power our applications. As a Backend Developer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our services are scalable, secure and performant, directly contributing to the success of our business objectives and the satisfaction of our users.
Key responsibilities
Design and develop scalable backend systems and APIs using modern programming languages and frameworks
Write clean, maintainable and efficient code whilst adhering to coding standards and best practices
Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members to ensure code quality
Debug, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely manner
Optimise database queries and improve application performance across the stack
Implement security best practices and data protection measures within backend systems
Document technical specifications, system architecture and development processes
Continuously learn and stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends
Contribute to the planning and estimation of development tasks and sprints
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline
2+ years of professional experience in backend development or software development
Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language such as Java, Python, Node.js, PHP, C# or Go
Solid understanding of RESTful API design and web services architecture
Experience with relational and non-relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git
Knowledge of software development methodologies and agile practices
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
Preferred: Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP), containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), message queues (RabbitMQ, Kafka) or microservices architecture
